Job Description

We are creating a new in‑house development team and are looking for an experienced Development Manager to lead the delivery of our mobile and web data‑capture applications. This is a key role responsible for taking ownership of an existing platform, improving its stability, and guiding a long‑term modernisation roadmap that will support both field teams and head‑office users. You’ll lead a multi‑disciplinary engineering team and work closely with a newly appointed Product Owner to deliver secure, scalable, and user‑friendly applications that meet the needs of a fast‑moving operational business.

Job Responsibility

  • Lead and manage a team of mobile, web, and backend developers
  • Take ownership of the existing data‑capture platform and drive its stabilisation and improvement
  • Define a clear technical and architectural roadmap focused on modernisation and long‑term growth
  • Set engineering standards and oversee code quality, testing, DevOps practices, and release processes
  • Work with the Product Owner to translate business needs into actionable delivery plans
  • Ensure performance, reliability, accessibility, and security across all applications
  • Build a positive engineering culture focused on collaboration, learning, and continuous improvement
  • Communicate progress, risks, and technical considerations to stakeholders across the business

Requirements

  • Proven experience managing software development teams delivering mobile and/or web applications
  • Strong technical grounding (ideally with .NET and Azure, or similar modern frameworks)
  • Experience adopting and improving an existing application or platform
  • Good understanding of Agile delivery practices and DevOps principles
  • Confident communicator who can work with both technical and non‑technical audiences
  • Strong leadership skills with experience coaching and developing teams
  • You must be eligible to work in the UK and have a full UK Driving Licence
