Job Description:

We are looking for an experienced Development Accountant Supervisor to join our team on a contract-to-permanent basis. This position is based in Austin, Texas, and focuses on managing accounting and financial reporting tasks for development projects. The ideal candidate will bring strong expertise in financial analysis and compliance while ensuring efficient and accurate handling of accounting processes.

Job Responsibility:

  • Oversee all accounting activities related to development communities, including preparing monthly draws, reviewing job cost coding, and managing project setups
  • Coordinate with construction and accounting teams to ensure timely submission of draw documentation in accordance with funding and payment requirements
  • Review and interpret development agreements and ground leases to ensure compliance with reporting and schedule obligations
  • Collaborate with internal teams to execute the period-end close process for development entities, including general ledger reviews, journal entries, and preparation of financial reports
  • Perform bank reconciliations and maintain accurate financial records for development projects
  • Develop budgets for various aspects, including development fee revenue, capitalized interest, depreciation, and pre-development salaries
  • Ensure compliance with financial reporting standards and contractual agreements
  • Provide detailed financial insights and recommendations to stakeholders to support decision-making
  • Maintain accurate and organized documentation for audits and compliance reviews

Requirements:

  • Proven experience with month-end close processes, including preparation of financial reports and reconciliations
  • Strong proficiency in managing general ledger accounting and journal entries
  • Hands-on experience in bank reconciliations for development entities
  • Familiarity with interpreting and applying terms of development agreements and ground leases
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including construction and accounting professionals
  • Solid understanding of budgeting processes, particularly for development fee revenue and capitalized interest
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in maintaining financial records and documentation
  • Proficiency in accounting software and tools to streamline processes and reporting
