Job Description:

This role needs application of in-depth engineering knowledge, contributing to the development of new techniques and the improvement of processes and workflow for the area or function. Requires good analytical skills to filter, prioritize and validate potentially complex and dynamic material from multiple sources. Strong communication and diplomacy skills are required. Regularly assumes informal/formal leadership role within teams. Significant impact in terms of project size, geography, etc. by influencing decisions through advice, counsel and/or facilitating services to others in area of specialization. Work and performance of all teams in the area are directly affected by the performance of the individual.

Job Responsibility:

  • Demonstrates deep understanding of Kubernetes/Openshift, including HPA and VPA
  • Analyse application capacity utilisation data and present recommendations to improve efficiency
  • Provide subject matter expert level advice on container image coding to reduce startup overhead and allow fast pod launch
  • Present plan to App Dev to address poor App migration from monolith to microservices including coding and platform tuning recommendations
  • Work in a collaborative team environment and support colleagues to achieve project goals
  • Troubleshoot application performance bottlenecks, failures, and latency issues
  • Involved in coaching and training of new recruits
  • Acts as subject matter expert to senior stakeholders and /or other team members
  • Ability to develop working relationships, manage multiple activities and changing priorities
  • Ability to work under pressure and to meet tight deadlines
  • Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication

Requirements:

  • 5-8 years relevant experience
  • Experience in containerization and orchestration using LightSpeed, Docker, Kubernetes and OpenShift, including HPA and VPA
  • Proficiency in Java and Python
  • Experience of manually deep diving into Prometheus data presented via Grafana dashboards
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Management and prioritization skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Self-starter with ability to take the initiative and master new tasks quickly
  • Methodical, attention to detail

Nice to have:

Experience using service analysis tools such as ScaleOps, Kubecost
