Job Description:

Made Tech wants to positively impact the country's future by using technology to improve society. We’ve built a community of designers and researchers to support the public sector's growing demand for a design-led approach to service delivery. Designers are experienced practitioners who collaborate with others to tackle challenges faced by people and society. They work within a team to design and deliver public services. They do this by influencing the direction, assuring the quality of design delivery within their team and by leading the end-to-end design of a chosen service. They are active members of a healthy user-centred design (UCD) community and culture at Made Tech.

Job Responsibility:

  • Hands-on design for one product/team
  • Acts as the design subject matter expert on a product team
  • Facilitate the design process and communicate design decisions to the team and stakeholders
  • Find out potential problems, shape them, and conduct solutions
  • Assure the quality of design delivery within their team
  • Lead the end-to-end design of a chosen service
  • Contribute to communities of practice
  • Advocate for the Interaction and Service Design practice internally and externally
  • Influence the organisation, clients, partners and peers on the contribution of interaction and service design
  • Develop a wide breadth of knowledge across the industry or business
  • Introduce good habits for sharing and improving design work
  • Take part occasionally in the hiring of designers and researchers
  • Help define Made Tech design principles through delivering good public services
  • Contribute to a design studio culture at Made Tech and client offices
  • Delivery of good public services for users with clients

Requirements:

  • Experienced practitioner
  • Able to develop new and novel approaches to highly complex design challenges based on fundamental design principles
  • Expert practitioner in leading design tools including Figma, GOV.UK prototyping kit, and Adobe InDesign
  • Able to coach and mentor others
  • Able to define interaction and service design standards
  • Client focus
  • Drive to deliver
  • Learning and mentoring
  • Experienced in their profession
  • Facilitation
  • Thinking through making
  • Required to undertake an SC clearance
