Job Description

We are seeking a motivated Design Technology Summer Intern to join the Ayers Saint Gross team and help transform how we leverage data throughout our design process. This internship offers a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of design, technology, and data science—contributing to both our institutional knowledge base and the future of our design workflows. As part of this internship you will work with a mentor to define how decades of project data is utilized throughout the design process to inform real-time decision making.

Job Responsibility

  • Research best practices for integrating project data into design workflows
  • Develop and prototype new processes that make project data accessible and actionable for designers
  • Develop and prototype automations to extract, transform, and normalize data from various project models
  • Create documentation and guidelines for data integration processes
  • Test and refine workflows with design teams
  • Collect and organize project data from past ASG projects
  • Populate and maintain our project database with accurate, structured information
  • Refine standardized processes for data entry and quality control
  • Collaborate with project teams to gather missing information and documentation

Requirements

  • Enrolled in an accredited degree program in architecture, design, data science, information systems, or related field
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Familiarity with 3D modeling software (SketchUp, Rhino) and BIM (Revit)
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Solid MS Office skills (particularly Excel)
  • Ability to work well in a team environment as well as independently
  • Excellent graphic and verbal communication skills
  • Exceptional relationship building skills
  • Genuine interest in the intersection of design, technology, and data

Nice to have

  • Understanding of computational design workflows (Grasshopper)
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools
  • Experience with structured databases
  • Experience with Python and/or TypeScript
  • Experience with Rhino API or Revit API
