Lead and elevate visual storytelling across brands, platforms, and formats at The Nation Network. This is a key leadership role for a creative professional who combines strong design craft with people leadership, strategic thinking, and a hands-on mindset. Responsible for shaping the visual direction of our content, supporting brand consistency, and helping a growing design team deliver high-impact creative work at scale.
Job Responsibility:
Lead and manage a team of graphic and motion designers, supporting their growth and development
Define and evolve visual guidelines to ensure brand consistency across multiple platforms and brands
Oversee the creation of graphic and motion assets for editorial, social media, marketing, and product initiatives
Balance hands-on design work with team leadership and project oversight
Partner closely with Editorial, Social, Marketing, and Growth teams to translate ideas into compelling visual executions
Help scale design processes and workflows to support high-volume content production
Ensure creative quality while meeting tight deadlines in a fast-moving media environment
Requirements:
Solid experience in graphic design, with a strong motion design component
Previous experience leading or mentoring designers (formal people management experience is a plus)
A strong portfolio showcasing both graphic and motion work across digital platforms
Experience working in digital media, content, marketing, or similarly fast-paced environments
Strong understanding of design for social media, video, and digital storytelling
Ability to give clear creative direction and constructive feedback
Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset
Comfort managing multiple projects and priorities at the same time
Nice to have:
Experience working with media, sports, or entertainment brands
Familiarity with performance-driven creative (social, growth, engagement metrics)
Experience scaling design systems or workflows
Comfort working with distributed or remote teams
