Responsible for independently leading the design release and technical management of Refrigerant Plumbing & Hardware components and systems for vehicle programs, ensuring alignment with product intent, compliance with engineering requirements, release quality, manufacturability, cost, and program timing. This role requires strong technical expertise in the area, independent judgment to resolve non-standard problems, and the ability to coordinate decisions across cross-functional teams without direct authority.
Job Responsibility
Lead the design release of refrigerant plumbing & hardware components through GPDS/ECM/ECR, ensuring solutions meet functional, packaging, manufacturing, quality, cost, and service requirements
Review, update, and confirm program intent for new and carryover parts, including correct usage by model, series, options, restrictions, quantities, LH/RH, KCDS, torque, mass, and part ownership
Ensure that 100% of the parts within their area, including attaching hardware, are reconciled and error-free during MPL Create and subsequent changes
Define and drive engineering changes for part number updates, FNA, series/options updates, MPL corrections, and required releases to support build events and production
Present technical options, recommend the preferred path forward, and align decisions with key functions such as VSE, purchasing, manufacturing, cost estimating, and other involved areas
Track technical and validation issues within the commodity, driving resolution with urgency and ownership of the result
Serve as a technical reference within the area and mentor less experienced engineers
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automotive Engineering, or related field
5 years in development and release of automotive components
Experience with thermal/HVAC systems, with emphasis on refrigerant lines, hoses, joints, ports, brackets, and refrigerant hardware
Knowledge of change management processes, ECR/ECM, GPDS, and MPL reconciliation
Ability to analyze complex problems, define options, and convert them into implementable actions with minimal guidance
Ability to coordinate cross-functional teams and influence both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Experience with program changes, MPL corrections, part validation, release timing, and launch support
