Job Description

The Design / Pre-Construction Intern will support the construction project managers who lead the estimating and bidding process, along with the design group. This role offers exposure to project design and pre-construction operations roles. This position is ideal for a student or recent graduate seeking hands-on experience in construction operations, project management, design related fields.

Job Responsibility

  • Updating design standards
  • Inputting site and building characteristics into Smartsheet
  • Review prototype changes and develop and research equipment and materials
  • Help with Bluebeam project takeoffs
  • Assist with creating PowerPoint presentations highlighting VE opportunities
  • Help with creating a playbook for the new estimating software
  • Input historical data into new estimating software
  • Gather quotes from vendors for live project bid exercises
  • Help with creating GC bid evaluations by researching and entering past bids into new estimating software

Requirements

  • Software Proficiency: Knowledge of design and project management tools like AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Excel
  • Analytical Thinking: The ability to interpret construction plans and specifications to identify potential risks or cost-saving opportunities
  • Communication: Clearly relaying information between the design, construction, and management teams
