Job Description

Lead the design and construction of cutting-edge data center facilities in Japan for a dynamic, global leader. You will oversee the design and construction of new data center facilities and major renovation/expansion projects across Japan, playing a vital role in shaping the future of data center infrastructure. You will manage all aspects of the project lifecycle, from initial site assessment to final completion, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget. You will be the technical lead on electrical infrastructure design and will work with a team of other engineers to ensure successful project delivery.

Job Responsibility

  • Lead the design and construction management of data center projects in Japan
  • Conduct thorough site due diligence, assessing technical feasibility and infrastructure capacity
  • Develop and manage project budgets and timelines
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure seamless project execution
  • Oversee the work of contractors and ensure adherence to safety standards and regulations
  • Support tenant onboarding by evaluating technical feasibility of electrical infrastructure
  • Respond to growing technical needs related to electrical load demands and power distribution
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant building codes and regulations

Requirements

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in managing the design and construction of complex infrastructure projects, ideally in data centers or similar mission-critical facilities
  • Expert knowledge of power distribution, redundant electrical system design (UPS, generators, switchgear, etc.), and electrical engineering best practices in high-availability environments
  • Proven experience in site due diligence, design development, and technical stakeholder management
  • Strong understanding of local electrical codes and standards (e.g., Technical Standards for Electrical Equipment, JIS, IEEE standards)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong project management skills, including budgeting, scheduling, and risk management
  • Business level or higher proficiency in both Japanese and English
  • Experience managing contractors and subcontractors
  • A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
  • Licensed Chief Electrical Engineer (電気主任技術者) or similar qualification is a plus
