Requirements

Degree qualified (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
Minimum of five years' experience in a similar role, ideally within manufacturing or heavy industry
Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and/or Microstation)
Confident in performing engineering design calculations for mechanical components and structural fabrications
Solid understanding of engineering standards and safety regulations, such as the Health & Safety at Work Act
Strong interpersonal skills to present ideas clearly to engineers and external partners

Job Responsibility

Leading the development of mechanical designs for capital projects and plant performance improvements
Approving and validating in-house designs and evaluating those from third-party suppliers
Providing technical expertise to resolve plant and equipment failures or inefficiencies
Collaborating across technical teams, project engineers, and external engineering partners
Ensuring all outputs comply with quality assurance and regulatory standards
Using CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Microstation) to deliver high-quality design outputs
Mentoring and supporting other engineers to share best practice across the team
