Job Description

Internal Design Engineer Location: Hinckley (Waterfield Way) LE10 Reports to: Production Office Supervisor - Salary £33k Monday - Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm The job is about designing steel products and helping turn those designs into something that can be manufactured. Background in Solidworks design and ideally worked in a metal / engineering sector.

Job Responsibility

  • Work as part of a design team
  • Come up with new product ideas
  • Create 3D models and drawings using SolidWorks
  • Turn approved designs into files used for production (e.g. laser cutting)
  • Communicate with other departments to solve problems and answer queries
  • Follow company procedures and policies
  • Handle data properly in line with GDPR rules

Requirements

  • Experience in a similar design/engineering role
  • Background in mechanical, manufacturing, or sheet metal engineering
  • Ability to use SolidWorks (Excel and Radan are a bonus)
  • Good communication and organisation skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Reliable, punctual, and safety-conscious

  • Complete AutoCAD drawings (2D and 3D, technical, graphic, CNC, and setup) for assigned projects in a timely manner
  • Actively participate in internal project meetings, including project margin and variance reviews, new business production meetings and project debriefs
  • Complete daily reporting responsibilities
