The Design Engineer’s role is to support customer enquiries and orders within the business. This will involve you applying company processes and practices to your work and supporting the Senior Design Engineer. You will join a growing Independent Connections Provider (ICP) who specialise in LV electricity networks as well as renewable energy projects. This role will be within the design team, focusing on supporting and growing the business through customer satisfaction.
Job Responsibility:
Ensure that heat and cooling networks, equipment and energy generation plant conform with legal, statutory and regulatory requirements, as well as adhering to all relevant technical standards to ensure compliance with the Heat Networks Code of Practice for the UK CP1 and requirements
Implement, participate and contribute towards procedures to manage the adoption of new sites from external Developers and/or internal Design and Build Teams
Review design, installation and commissioning specifications
Produce recommendations aimed at ensuring that sites operate safely, reliably and with a high degree of efficiency as soon as they are adopted
Influence internal design and build teams as well as external Developers, Consultants and Clients to implement recommendations
Advise and offer guidance to Clients, Consultants and Designers on Industry best practice
Proactively work with internal and external stakeholders to identify, monitor and witness critical phases in the build and commissioning process
Ensure that adopted sites comply with all relevant regulations and standards
Develop and manage action plans to overcome any problems/challenges
Ensure and contribute to safety, design and asset management systems are implemented prior to adoption
Ensure that all operational monitoring and control systems are functional prior to adoption such as remote BMS interfaces, Automatic Meter Reading, CCTV etc
Directly responsible for the review and inspection of new sites to ascertain whether their design and construction offers a suitable degree of compliance with relevant legislation and operational standards prior to adoption
Directly responsible for enacting and optimising the adoption process at all future sites
The role holder must develop effective relationships and have the ability to influence numerous external contractors, property developers, consultants and clients
There will also be a requirement to influence internal stakeholders such as Design and Build and Operational teams
Requirements:
Degree in a relevant Engineering subject or studying towards a degree and Engineering Council Chartered Engineer status with a recognised Engineering Body
A general understanding of corporate health and safety regulations and policies
An understanding of heat engineering design, installation, operation and maintenance
An understanding of standard construction industry contractual relationships and forms of contract
Experience in the delivery of excellent customer service
Experience in developing and maintaining relationships at all levels with external and internal customers
A broad knowledge of standard IT applications and in-depth knowledge of those applications relevant to the duties being performed
Dedicated and committed to working as part of a team and building and fostering a can do/will do work ethic
Experience of working independently with minimum supervision and dealing with unforeseen problems and circumstances
Attention to detail
Computer literate – carries out complex tasks, integrates information from numerous software packages, produces reports and trains/coaches others
