Job Description

The Design Engineer is responsible for developing solutions to a variety of complex engineering problems, requiring judgment and ingenuity with Airbus product lines. General responsibilities include A350, A320, A330 module customization. Specific activities include but are not limited to: product development support, existing product customization, qualification and certification documentation review, continued airworthiness evaluation, cabin installation definition/drawings, and component supplier interface/oversight.

Job Responsibility

  • Responsible for delivering fully qualified cabin equipment designs that meet technical, weight, schedule, quality and cost targets
  • Manage the General Requirements for Equipment & System Suppliers (GRESS) deliverables for the program (20%)
  • Prepare and lead Initial Technical Coordination Meetings (ITCM), Preliminary Design Review (PDR), Critical Design Review (CDR) and major milestone meetings
  • Define/Validate Interfaces to the aircraft including development of customized modules installation requirements
  • Guide and perform qualification and verification and validation of Cabin equipment designs including release of the Declaration of Design Performance (DDP)
  • Initiate, monitor and manage Supplier Improvements and Transformation Projects
  • Analyze Change Requests designs based on customer, manufacturing and/or design requirements

Requirements

  • Minimum BS degree in engineering or related field
  • 6+ years of experience within the aviation industry
  • 3 years of relevant experience in aircraft cabin engineering and development process
  • Knowledge of associated design, certification and qualification requirements
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
  • Ability to understand and mentor principles within assigned discipline
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical aircraft topics
  • Ability to inter-relate with and motivate diverse teams
  • Authorized to work in the US
