The Design Engineer is responsible for developing solutions to a variety of complex engineering problems, requiring judgment and ingenuity with Airbus product lines. General responsibilities include A350, A320, A330 module customization. Specific activities include but are not limited to: product development support, existing product customization, qualification and certification documentation review, continued airworthiness evaluation, cabin installation definition/drawings, and component supplier interface/oversight.
Job Responsibility:
Responsible for delivering fully qualified cabin equipment designs that meet technical, weight, schedule, quality and cost targets
Manage the General Requirements for Equipment & System Suppliers (GRESS) deliverables for the program (20%)
Prepare and lead Initial Technical Coordination Meetings (ITCM), Preliminary Design Review (PDR), Critical Design Review (CDR) and major milestone meetings
Define/Validate Interfaces to the aircraft including development of customized modules installation requirements
Guide and perform qualification and verification and validation of Cabin equipment designs including release of the Declaration of Design Performance (DDP)
Initiate, monitor and manage Supplier Improvements and Transformation Projects
Analyze Change Requests designs based on customer, manufacturing and/or design requirements
Requirements:
Minimum BS degree in engineering or related field
6+ years of experience within the aviation industry
3 years of relevant experience in aircraft cabin engineering and development process
Knowledge of associated design, certification and qualification requirements
Excellent communication and negotiation skills
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
Ability to understand and mentor principles within assigned discipline
Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical aircraft topics
Ability to inter-relate with and motivate diverse teams
Authorized to work in the US
