The Design Engineer II is responsible for designing and developing bioprocess equipment used in pharmaceutical and biotechnology applications. This role involves creating detailed engineering designs, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality, innovative solutions for fluid management, filtration, and process automation systems.
Job Responsibility:
Create 3D models and detailed engineering drawings for bioprocess equipment (e.g., skids, pressure vessels, piping assemblies)
Develop P&IDs, GA drawings, and BOMs using CAD tools (SolidWorks, AutoCAD or equivalent)
Ensure designs meet ASME, BPE, and GMP standards
Support design optimization for cost, quality, and lead-time improvements
Pressure vessel calculations and design as per ASME standards
Follow and maintain change control procedure for design and face design audits
Work closely with process engineers, project managers, and manufacturing teams to ensure design feasibility and manufacturability
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline
Experience in equipment design for bioprocess, pharmaceutical, or food & beverage industries
Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Inventor)
Knowledge of ASME BPE, GMP, and hygienic design standards
Familiarity with pressure vessel design codes and piping standards
Ready to travel to customer and supplier locations to understand the requirements
Nice to have:
Experience with orbital welding and sanitary tubing design
Understanding of automation interfaces and skid integration
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
