As our Brand Design Director, you will define the visual identity and vision for Wealthsimple and lead a talented team of designers, animators, and producers to develop brand-defining work that lets the world know we set the standard for design and visuals, but never lack humanity.
Job Responsibility:
Own and drive the design vision and direction for large-scale brand design initiatives
Champion Wealthsimple’s distinct brand identity
Collaborate closely with marketing leadership to develop creative solutions
Partner with cross-functional teams including Growth, Product Marketing, Communications, and Product Design
Balance strategic design leadership with hands-on execution
Lead, mentor, and grow a small team of talented designers
Advocate for design excellence
Cultivate an inclusive, collaborative, and feedback-driven environment
Provide clear and constructive feedback
Act as a key point of contact between the design team and other departments
Requirements:
8+ years of experience in design leadership
Portfolio showcasing design expertise across diverse disciplines (OOH campaigns, digital, photography, potentially 3D/motion)
Hands-on creative leadership experience
Strong understanding of Wealthsimple’s brand and visual identity
Proven experience managing and mentoring a team of designers
Strategic thinker with ability to translate business objectives into design solutions
Excellent cross-functional collaboration skills
Deep understanding of design tools and software (Adobe Creative Suite, Figma)
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Experience in financial services or tech industries is a plus
