Job Description

The Customer Solutions Design Professional supports the creation of end-to-end technical designs and solutions, which meet customer needs. The role holder will be responsible for designing, implementing, testing and handing over to service security solutions based on BT’s security portfolio technologies for global customers.

Job Responsibility

  • Define and agree the project scope, estimate the time, budget and resources required to support the deliverable
  • Support the capture of business requirements
  • Translate customer requirements into high quality technical solutions using standard solution approaches
  • Supports in the design of solutions based on specific requirements using standard approaches in line with the wider technical strategy or roadmap
  • Prepare and deliver high quality (standard or custom) network designs (e.g. HLD, MLD, LLD) and/or customer solutions according to the project scope and schedule, within budget
  • Regularly maintain overall solution documents as required
  • Contribute to resolving issues that arise during design
  • Work together with a global team of network designers
  • Ensure the designs fulfil the customer's expectations and align with the current security principles
  • Ensure that own designs adhere to architectural principles and policies
  • Display excellent customer-facing skills, as working directly with external BT partners
  • Complete the work of the implementation request on the planned start/end dates and per the specifications, configuring the devices and verifying normal operation
  • Manage multiple projects and work with various BT teams to deliver the tasks on time and with minimal impact to the customer’s business
  • Collaboratively work with other designers, engineers to resolve design and implementation issues
  • Maintain a good understanding of key security products (e.g. Next Generation Firewalls, Cloud Proxy solutions)
  • Occasionally required to work flexibly as out of hours working will be required for transition and transformation change windows
  • Supports change management, impact assessments and design documentation updates
  • Supports the implementation of ways to improve working processes within the area of customer solution design

  • Good foundational knowledge of key security technologies and products with hands-on experience and technical knowledge for one or more of the following: Security Gateways (Cisco Firepower, ASA, Check Point, Palo Alto plus appropriate Managers), Cloud Security Proxies (Zscaler, Palo Alto Prisma), Other Security Solutions (IDS/IPS, VPN, Remote Access solutions)
  • Experience deploying network and security services for large organizations
  • Skills with diagnostic tools including ability to interpret and analyse output
  • Knowledge of IP networking and security-related technologies
  • Fluent in English (both written and spoken)

Nice to have

  • Security-related certifications (Cisco CCNA, Check Point CCSA) is an advantage
  • Any knowledge of Python, Kubernetes, Ansible, automation and RESTful APIs is an advantage
