A leading aerospace and defense organization is seeking KC‑46 Mission Systems Avionics Engineers to join the KC‑46 program as equipment managers. This role supports the design, integration, testing, certification, and hardware/software management of assigned mission systems avionics subsystems. The KC‑46 Pegasus is the U.S. Air Force’s next‑generation aerial refueling tanker, designed to support multi‑role missions including aerial refueling, cargo and passenger transport, and medical evacuation.
Job Responsibility:
Support the engineering design, development, analysis, testing, and certification of mission avionics systems to ensure seamless integration with software and higher‑level systems and platforms
Support the design, development, validation, and verification of system‑level requirements
Assist in the development of test plans and procedures in support of certification activities
Coordinate system‑level integration for mission avionics hardware and software
Support the definition and execution of critical tests to validate design performance against system requirements
Provide technical management and coordination with suppliers and internal software teams across the full product lifecycle (proposal, development, production, in‑service support, and flight/lab testing)
Support proposal development and conduct trade studies for future upgrades and new program opportunities
Coordinate FAA and military certification and airworthiness activities related to mission avionics systems and components
Collaborate with specialty engineering Integrated Product Teams (IPTs), including safety, electromagnetic emissions, and cybersecurity
Provide troubleshooting support for production labs and aircraft during technical issues
Conduct technical investigations and Root Cause and Corrective Actions (RCCA).
Requirements:
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, or Chemistry
Electrical Engineering strongly preferred
3+ years of engineering experience
Experience with: Communication systems
FAA and/or military programs
System troubleshooting and integration
RF technologies (radio systems, communication systems, military GPS, tactical data links such as Link‑16)
Networking concepts
Must be eligible for and able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret security clearance.
