The Boston Children’s Hospital Dermatology Program provides care for children and adolescents with all forms of congenital and acquired disorders of the skin, nails, hair, and mucous membranes. The primary goal of the medical scribe is to reduce administrative burden on the physician, improve accuracy/timeliness of medical documentation, and optimize provider ability to spend more time interacting with patients.
Job Responsibility:
Accompany providers throughout the entire patient medical appointment, either virtually or on-site
Transcribe interactions during the appointment into a high-quality, comprehensive preliminary note for physician sign-off
Send all preliminary documentation for physician review promptly
Make any necessary amendments/changes to approach based on physician feedback
Develop a close working relationship with providers
Maintain a repository of historical/current physician templates/dot phrases
Attend department meetings as needed or directed
Assist with other administrative clerical duties related to factors affecting physician clinics
Requirements:
High School Diploma/GED required
Associate’s degree in health science or another medical field preferred
Understanding of medical terminology, procedures, and diagnostic tests
Ability to accurately transcribe patient interactions into comprehensive preliminary notes for physician review
Meticulous attention to detail to ensure accuracy and completeness of transcribed notes
Nice to have:
Certified Medical Scribe Professional CMSP Preferred
