As a GPwER in Dermatology at DMC, you will work autonomously and be responsible for delivering specialist dermatological services to our patients. This includes providing a high standard of clinical care in dermatology in line with the [GMS/PMS/APMS] contract. You will be expected to uphold GMC standards for good medical practice and support the effective management of dermatological care within the service, working collaboratively with the wider multidisciplinary team.
Job Responsibility:
Delivering high-quality medical care with an emphasis on dermatology to those entitled
Providing specialised dermatological services in accordance with the [GMS/PMS/APMS] agreement
Treating a range of skin conditions, including complex and chronic dermatological issues
Engaging in dermatology clinics and offering expert guidance to general practitioners
Managing dermatological administrative duties, such as referrals and skin-related medication management
Performing dermatological procedures and surgeries as necessary
Maintaining precise and comprehensive clinical records for dermatological treatments
Collaborating with the dermatology department and the broader general practice team
Keeping up to date with the latest developments in dermatology and implementing best practices
Leading dermatology quality improvement initiatives within the practice
Overseeing dermatological aspects of QOF
Participating in dermatology-related practice meetings
Contributing to the development and maintenance of dermatological services, including clinical governance and training
Ensuring compliance with dermatological standards in the appraisal process
Engaging in dermatology-specific revalidation
Committing to ongoing professional development in dermatology
Supporting the training of medical students and junior doctors in dermatological practices
Assisting the partners in enhancing dermatological services and practice income
Reviewing and adhering to dermatology-specific protocols and policies
Promoting a culture of continuous improvement in dermatological care
Participating in dermatology audits
Engaging in local initiatives to enhance dermatological service delivery and patient care
Involvement in reviewing significant events in dermatology using structured approaches like root cause analysis (RCA)
Requirements:
Medical degree with a recognised dermatology qualification, such as a Diploma in Dermatology
Demonstrated experience in managing a broad range of skin conditions, including complex and chronic dermatological cases
Active GMC registration and inclusion on the National Performers List
Proven ability to carry out dermatological procedures, minor surgeries, and prescribe dermatological treatments
Significant experience in delivering diagnostic and therapeutic dermatology services in outpatient settings
Commitment to providing high-quality, evidence-based dermatology care
Excellent dermatology-specific clinical skills and strong communication abilities for patient care and collaborative work within multidisciplinary teams
Confident in using clinical IT systems relevant to dermatology practice
Ability to demonstrate leadership in clinical contexts and work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
Commitment to continuous learning and professional development in dermatology
Participation in dermatology-related research or teaching activities is advantageous
Legally entitled to practise medicine in the UK
Understanding of the Quality and Outcomes Framework and experience in clinical audit within dermatology
Skilled at managing a varied and demanding clinical workload
Proven ability to work sensitively and empathetically with patients
Successful completion of a DBS check
Confirmation of fitness for clinical practice from occupational health
Nice to have:
Knowledge and experience in the management of medications, particularly those related to dermatological conditions, including understanding of prescribing practices and medication review processes
Involvement with Integrated Care Board (ICB) initiatives, demonstrating an understanding of integrated care systems and experience in collaborative work across different healthcare sectors, particularly in dermatology
Involvement in the education and supervision of medical students, junior doctors, or nursing staff in dermatology
