Job Description:

Deputy Ward Manager role for a mixed Surgical Ward in a leading private hospital in Oxford. The hospital offers a full range of surgeries including Orthopaedics, Cosmetics, Cardiac, Oncology, Gynaecology and Urology. This is a visible, high-impact leadership position within a flagship hospital where new initiatives, equipment and innovations are often piloted first.

Job Responsibility:

  • Support the Ward Manager in day-to-day operational leadership
  • Deputise fully in their absence
  • Coordinate staffing across two floor
  • Optimise permanent, bank and agency staffing levels
  • Lead, motivate and develop a large multidisciplinary team
  • Ensure safe, efficient, patient-centred care across a complex surgical environment
  • Contribute to workforce optimisation initiatives shaping the future model of care

Requirements:

  • NMC registered Nurse
  • Right to work in the UK
  • Senior Staff Nurse / Sister-level experience (Band 6/7 equivalent) at a minimum
  • Proven team leadership experiences
  • Ability to manage complexity across multiple specialties and locations
  • Strong surgical ward background
  • Confidence to step up and lead from day one

Nice to have:

Experience as a Deputy Ward Manager or Clinical Leader will be advantageous
