Deputy Team Leader role in the Packing Area for the Evening Shift at Rosie & Jim, a family-owned business producing premium Gluten Free breaded chicken products. The role involves ensuring efficient operation, quality, safety, and team management in a food manufacturing environment.
Job Responsibility:
Ensure all work tasks are carried out to the required standard and issues are notified
Ensure all paperwork and traceability information is completed
Ensure staff are fully trained in work practices and health and safety
Review head count Vs demand and flag issues
Facilitate the set-up of the line equipment
Follow all standard operating procedures
Monitor staff to ensure SOPs are followed
Work with team members to ensure efficient running of equipment
Maintain clean & tidy work areas
Aid in controlling the process to achieve 95% operation efficiency, 100% good quality product, and minimise wastage
Work with all departments to achieve the daily/weekly schedule
Work with teams to resolve unforeseen issues
Provide Production Manager with up-to-date information on area performance
Ensure product standards, food safety requirements and product specifications are adhered to
Ensure completion of all relevant documentation
Work together with Team Leader in rostering team
Cover for holidays, sick days for all team members
Help in other areas of the factory as required
Ensure line staff are aware of product quality standards
Work with team members to prepare for customer visits and audits
Ensure all production requirements for each customer order are met
Use all production machinery as instructed
Ensure all breakdowns & downtime are reported
Engage with continuous improvement initiatives
Complete necessary training
Accountable for the actions of their team
Drive improvement in all aspects of the packaging process
Ensure safety, health, and welfare at work of direct employees
Manage work activities to ensure safety
Prevent improper conduct
Ensure all safety training is completed
Implement policies and procedures to minimise health and safety risks
Identify, investigate, and report near misses, safety concerns, incidents and accidents
Supervise/monitor staff performance and ensure compliance
Ensure employees use Personal Protective Equipment correctly
Requirements:
Minimum of 2 years working experience with baggers, Ishida packing machines, check weighers, food packing, and high-speed line
Minimum of 1 year in a position of supervising a team
People skills, technical/mechanical knowledge, an eye for detail and great organizational skills
Problem-solving skills and mechanical ability are an advantage
Motivated, can do attitude with strong attention to detail
Fluent English and excellent communication skills
Results driven with a collaborative style and positive attitude
