We are excited to offer an opportunity for an experienced Deputy Registered Manager to join a brand‑new staff team at a 2‑bed residential children’s home in Leigh. The home specialises in supporting children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD) and Learning Difficulties (LD). Led by a highly experienced Registered Manager, this is a unique chance to play a key role in shaping a new service from the ground up. As Deputy Registered Manager, you will support the day‑to‑day running of the home, provide guidance and supervision to the team, and help create a safe, nurturing and consistent environment where children feel secure and valued. We are looking for a confident, compassionate professional with experience in residential childcare who can lead by example, promote positive outcomes for children, and maintain high standards of care, safeguarding and practice in line with regulatory requirements. Job Responsibility:
Support the Registered Manager with the day‑to‑day operation of the home, maintaining high standards of care
Coordinate and monitor staffing levels, ensuring individual needs of young people are met
Act as designated person in charge in the Registered Manager’s absence, leading staff and young people meetings as required
Promote a caring, nurturing, child‑centred approach aligned with therapeutic and trauma‑informed models of care
Build positive, trusting relationships with children and support their emotional, behavioural and developmental needs
Support care planning, behaviour support and risk management strategies
Safeguard children by ensuring policies, procedures and regulatory requirements are fully adhered to
Maintain standards in line with the Care Standards Act 2000 and Children’s Homes Regulations, working proactively with monitoring bodies
Requirements:
DipSW, CQSW, NVQ 3/4 in Working with Young People / Residential Childcare.
Level 5 Diploma in Residential Childcare, or willingness to work towards this.
Proven experience at Deputy or senior level in a Residential Home for young people/children.
Able to demonstrate advanced practice skills and experience in managing challenging behaviour.
Demonstrate good working knowledge of Ofsted fundamental working standards and regulations.
Working knowledge of the National Care Standards, Care Act and Regulations.
Good attention to detail and work to high standards.
Work using own initiative, taking full ownership.
Ability to develop and encourage professional growth in others.
