A well-established nursery in Bexhill-on-Sea is seeking an experienced and motivated Deputy Nursery Manager to join their leadership team. The successful candidate will support the Nursery Manager in the day-to-day running of the setting, ensuring high standards of care, learning, safeguarding, and staff support are consistently maintained.
Job Responsibility
Supporting the Nursery Manager with the daily operations of the nursery
Leading by example and acting as a positive role model for staff and children
Ensuring safeguarding procedures and nursery policies are followed at all times
Supporting staff development, mentoring, and day-to-day supervision
Overseeing ratios, room organisation, and staff deployment across the setting
Supporting with observations, assessments, and learning journeys
Ensuring the EYFS curriculum is implemented effectively throughout the nursery
Supporting staff with planning engaging and age-appropriate learning opportunities
Building strong relationships with parents, carers, and external professionals
Supporting children with SEN and EAL using appropriate strategies and interventions
Monitoring standards within rooms, including learning environments and displays
Supporting with risk assessments, health & safety checks, and compliance procedures
Assisting with parent meetings, staff meetings, and nursery events
Promoting British Values and positive behaviour throughout the setting
Supporting the nursery team to create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment for all children
Requirements
Minimum Level 3 qualification in Childcare/Early Years
Previous experience within a nursery setting, ideally in a senior or leadership role
Strong understanding of the EYFS framework and safeguarding practices
Confident leading and supporting a team
Excellent communication and organisational skills
Ability to work collaboratively and maintain high standards across the nursery
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
