Forevercare provide person centred support and care for children and young people between the ages of 5 and 18 years with a variety of different needs and requirements. The Deputy Manager will assist and work closely alongside the Registered Manager in the planning, organising and management of the home. To take lead responsibility for key areas as designated by the Registered Manager. You will be required to foster good morale and team spirit amongst the staff team and good relationships with the local community to create a warm, homely, caring environment within the home whilst catering for the children, nevertheless taking into account the needs of the individual. Ensure the highest standards of physical, social and emotional care is offered, exceeding any guidance and standards set by Ofsted.

Job Responsibility:

  • Assist and work closely alongside the Registered Manager in the planning, organising and management of the home
  • Take lead responsibility for key areas as designated by the Registered Manager
  • Foster good morale and team spirit amongst the staff team and good relationships with the local community
  • Ensure the highest standards of physical, social and emotional care is offered
  • Work alongside the Registered Manager in managing the home in an efficient manner within the available resources
  • Assist with preparing and implementation and evaluation of individual care plans and systems
  • Be responsible for the arrangements of admission of children to the home
  • Ensure staff are kept fully conversant by guidance, instruction and practice with all aspects of managing the home
  • Take appropriate action to ensure there is sufficient staff coverage at all times
  • Ensure efficient and known channels of communication for the dissemination of information
  • Ensure that training needs are identified and monitored accurately
  • Seek to maintain the maximum level of individuality and independence of the children
  • Ensure that all children receive proper medical, dental and all health care needs
  • Comply at all times with the requirements of the company’s Standard Operating procedures
  • Participate in reviews, meetings, case conferences etc as and when required
  • Ensure that proper attention is given by staff to the health, safety and welfare matters throughout the home
  • Co-operate at all times with the differing social services departments, staff and other professionals
  • Work 40 hours per week, be flexible to cover a shift, assist the Registered Manager and maintain a rota
  • Be available to undertake on-call for advice, guidance and emergency situations
  • Ensure there are systems in place and procedures are followed in all aspects of working in an Ofsted regulated children's home
  • Behave at all times in a responsible manner
  • Perform any other duties required and directed by the company or Registered Manager
  • Be responsible for the induction of new staff
  • Comply with company rules, respond to emergencies, work in accordance to the Quality Standards and care home regulations
  • Be productive in building good relationships with referring agencies including assisting in the filling of any spaces
  • Take overall management responsibilities in the absence of the Manager

Requirements:

  • Minimum 6 months experience in a relevant field is desirable
  • Transferable Adults and Children’s DBS is desirable
  • A relevant qualification is desirable e.g. Level 3 Diploma in residential Care or equivalent
