Deputy Manager - Residential Care Service Salary: £40,000 per annum Location: Central London 40 hours per week | Monday to Friday plus every other weekend Full Time | Permanent About the Role We are currently recruiting for an experienced Deputy Manager to support the day-to-day management of a residential care service supporting adults, including individuals living with dementia. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated and hands-on care professional looking to step into a key leadership role. Working closely with the Registered Manager, you will help ensure the delivery of high-quality, person-centred care while maintaining compliance, driving standards, and supporting staff development. You will play a vital role in maintaining stability across the service, supporting continuous improvement, and ensuring residents receive safe, effective, and compassionate care.

Job Responsibility

  • Support and deputise for the Registered Manager in the day-to-day running of the service
  • Oversee care assessments, admissions, and care planning
  • Ensure residents receive person-centred, dignified, and high-quality care
  • Conduct risk assessments and ensure effective safeguarding practices
  • Oversee safe medication management, storage, and auditing
  • Monitor and maintain compliance with regulatory standards and internal policies
  • Lead, support, and develop staff through supervision, appraisal, and training
  • Manage rotas and staffing levels to ensure safe service delivery
  • Support occupancy, referrals, and admissions processes
  • Liaise with families, healthcare professionals, and external agencies
  • Manage incidents, complaints, and safeguarding concerns appropriately
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation in line with policy and legislation
  • Support budget monitoring and operational management
  • Promote a positive, compassionate, and values-led culture within the service

Requirements

  • NVQ Level 5 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent)
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in a similar leadership role
  • Experience working within dementia or elderly care services
  • Strong understanding of care standards, safeguarding, and regulatory requirements
  • Experience managing staff teams and supporting performance development
  • Experience with care planning, risk assessments, and compliance systems
  • Advanced Medication Administration qualification
  • Strong communication, leadership, and organisational skills
  • Confident IT skills (Microsoft Office and care systems)
  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • Ability to work flexibly, including alternate weekends

Nice to have

  • Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation
  • Experience in service improvement and quality assurance
