Job Description

We are seeking for a candidate who will lead and ensure the quality performance of all New Product Development (NPD) activities including New Part Launches, Sample and Part Trials, and Quality Planning for newly developed gear components, ensuring alignment with customer specifications, internal standards, and APQP guidelines.

Job Responsibility

  • Drive quality assurance for all New Product Development projects from development stage to production
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including NPD, Production, and Supplier Quality to ensure quality deliverables are met
  • Lead quality planning and control activities for new part launches
  • Ensure timely completion of PPAP, APQP documentation, and validation processes
  • Conduct Process Capability Studies, MSA, and FMEA reviews
  • Coordinate inspection and testing of samples to ensure compliance with customer drawings/specifications
  • Identify and resolve quality issues arising during sample approval stage
  • Develop and implement quality control plans for new gear components
  • Work closely with suppliers and in-house manufacturing to ensure dimensional and functional requirements are met
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective action plans for quality issues during development
  • Serve as the primary quality contact for customer quality teams during NPD phases
  • Support customer audits and respond to concerns or queries related to new product quality

Requirements

  • Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • 7-10 years in Quality function within an automotive industry, preferably with gears or transmission components
  • Deep understanding of APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, SPC, and 8D problem solving
  • Hands-on experience with gear measurement and quality inspection tools
  • Familiarity with customer quality standards (e.g., IATF 16949)

  • Drive operational performance, ensuring production targets, quality standards, and health & safety requirements are consistently met
  • Manage, motivate, and develop your team, fostering a positive and high-performing culture
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement across the operation
  • Using Continuous Improvement tools and techniques e.g. Performance Improvement Plans, team result plans, value stream mapping, line balancing and problem solving, utilising the Bakkavor Operating System e.g. RedZone to ensure that targets are met and regularly challenged / improved upon
  • To inspire and drive standards of quality, food safety, hygiene and housekeeping within areas / shift, to ensure that both Business and Customer standards are maintained
  • Attend daily factory reviews and coach team members to ensure the quality of the meetings and actions is to the right standard
  • Accountable for delivering high quality Top Loss/ Kaizen activity for shift
  • To pro-actively review and manage the performance of all team members across your shift
  • Utilise KPI data to benchmark, challenge and drive performance improvement
