Job Description

We are looking for an experienced and driven Deputy Manager (Clinical) to join a newly opened Residential & Nursing care home in Walsall. This is a commissioning role, so you will be actively involved in setting up the home and supporting the management team during the early stages of admissions. You will provide hands-on clinical leadership and support the Registered Manager to ensure residents receive safe, high-quality, person-centred care. This is an excellent opportunity for a nurse or clinical lead with strong leadership skills who wants to progress into a deputy role within a growing organisation.

Job Responsibility

  • Supporting the Registered Manager with the day-to-day running of the home
  • Providing strong clinical leadership and oversight of care delivery
  • Working both supernumerary and on the floor, particularly during commissioning
  • Supporting the setup of the home and initial admissions
  • Managing care plans and medication administration
  • Ensuring compliance with policies, procedures and regulatory requirements
  • Leading and supporting the care team to deliver high standards of care
  • Participating in the on-call rota alongside the manager
  • Working alternate weekends as required

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse (RN) – General Nurse preferred
  • Clinical Lead or Senior Nurse experience considered (Deputy experience not essential)
  • Strong experience working in care homes
  • Strong knowledge of care planning and medication management
  • Confident leader with excellent communication skills
  • Local to Walsall and able to travel for weekends
  • Honest, trustworthy, and driven
  • Comfortable working in a commissioning environment and willing to be hands-on

  • Obtain a report from the Person in Charge, and advice the Home Manager, regarding any incident/accident, and the status of any Residents whose care / health is causing concern. Complete CQC & Safeguarding alerts as required
  • Supervise visits and liaise with GPs in order to establish a good relationship between GPs / Health Care Professionals and the Care Home
  • Ensure a clear and concise handover report is given to all Staff Members
  • Arrange / participate in Staff and Resident meetings as and when required
  • Take responsibility for Resident care, as designated by the Home Manager in his / her absence and the absence of the Deputy Home Manager
  • Assess social and health care needs of new Residents, and maintain on-going assessment and review of all other Residents
