We are seeking an experienced and motivated Deputy Manager to support the leadership and day-to-day running of a therapeutic children’s home. This is a senior role requiring strong leadership, safeguarding knowledge, and a commitment to high-quality, child-centred care.
Job Responsibility
Support the Registered Manager in the safe, effective operation of the home
Lead and manage the team, including supervision, guidance, and performance management
Take full responsibility for the home in the absence of the Registered Manager
Promote and maintain a therapeutic environment and model of care
Ensure compliance with all safeguarding, regulatory, and legislative requirements
Oversee care planning, risk management, and quality of care
Contribute to staff recruitment, training, and professional development
Support effective communication with external professionals and agencies
Monitor and improve standards, ensuring positive outcomes for children
Requirements
Minimum 3 years’ experience in a management role within children’s residential care or similar
Strong understanding of safeguarding, child protection, and regulatory frameworks (e.g. Ofsted)
Experience working within a therapeutic environment or with children with complex needs
Proven ability to lead, manage, and develop teams
Excellent communication, organisational, and decision-making skills
Ability to work under pressure and handle emotionally demanding situations
Strong understanding of equality, diversity, and professional boundaries
Nice to have
Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management for Residential Childcare (or working towards)
Experience in SEMH or specialist educational settings
Driving licence
