Job Description:

We are seeking a visionary and resilient Deputy Headteacher to join the senior leadership team (SLT) of a reputable secondary school in Wickford. This is a pivotal role for an ambitious leader ready to drive school-wide improvement and uphold the highest standards of academic excellence and student welfare.

Job Responsibility:

  • Strategic Leadership: Assist the Headteacher in the day-to-day management of the school and the implementation of the School Improvement Plan (SIP)
  • Curriculum & Attainment: Oversee the development of a broad, balanced curriculum and lead on rigorous quality assurance of teaching and learning
  • Staff Development: Line manage Heads of Department and senior staff, fostering a culture of professional growth and accountability
  • Behaviour & Culture: Drive a positive school climate through the effective implementation of behaviour policies and safeguarding procedures
  • Data & Performance: Analyse whole-school data to identify trends, oversee interventions, and report progress to the Governing Body

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and significant experience in a middle or senior leadership role (e.g., Assistant Head or Head of Faculty)
  • NPQH (National Professional Qualification for Headship) is highly desirable
  • A proven track record of raising standards and improving student outcomes at a whole-school level
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to inspire and influence staff, parents, and students
  • Deep knowledge of current Ofsted frameworks and statutory safeguarding requirements
