In the role of Deputy Head of School for Apprenticeships, you will be predominantly based at our STEM campus. However, this is a multi-site role and travel between sites is expected. This role comes with annual teaching hours of 648 or an Assessor caseload equivalent to those hours. It is expected that the successful candidate will teach or assess on Apprenticeship programmes to young people and adults.
Job Responsibility:
Leadership and Management: Support the Head of Apprenticeship Programs in the strategic planning and day-to-day management of the department. Lead on specific projects or initiatives as required
Teaching and Curriculum Development: Contribute to teaching and learning and assessment activities, and lead on the development and review of the curriculum in line with industry trends and academic standards
Quality Assurance: Oversee the implementation of quality assurance processes, including course evaluations, staff appraisals, and accreditation requirements
Staff Development and Management: Assist in managing academic and support staff, including recruitment, development, and performance management
Student Experience: Ensure a high-quality learning experience for students, addressing any issues related to student satisfaction, progression, and achievement
Resource Management: Oversee the allocation and utilization of departmental resources, including budget management and infrastructure development
Stakeholder Engagement: Foster relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including employers, professional bodies, and academic partners
Requirements:
A recognised teaching and/or assessor qualification
Teaching and/or assessment experience within the FE or Secondary School Sector
Experience of leadership and/or staff management
Evidence of supporting a team to achieve results
A proven record of demonstrating excellence in teaching, Learning and assessment
A recognised teaching and/or assessment qualification or equivalent experience
A Management qualification or a related field
Proven track record of teaching or assessing apprenticeship programmes
Experience in leadership and staff management
Strong leadership and organisational skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
Commitment to enhancing the student learning experience
Proficiency in data analysis and decision-making based on best practices
