We are excited to be accepting applications for the role of Deputy Head Academic. This position can start in August 2026, or sooner. The Deputy Head Academic role involves supporting the Executive Principal and the Senior Leadership Team in all aspects of their role.

Job Responsibility:

  • Develop and implement the school's academic vision with the Executive Principal (EP) and SLT
  • Lead the academic direction of the school in the Head of School's absence
  • Set and maintain high academic standards aligned with the school's ethos
  • Oversee curriculum development, academic policies, and improvement plans
  • Use data to monitor academic progress, set goals, and plan future improvements
  • Provide professional development and guidance to staff to improve teaching quality
  • Deliver teaching duties as a role model for excellence, including curriculum planning and support for staff
  • Lead academic interventions, support planning, and mentor less experienced staff
  • Communicate academic targets and student progress to parents and carers effectively
  • Build strong relationships with parents, carers, and the community to support academic goals
  • Monitor teaching quality, student outcomes, and curriculum standards
  • Manage timetabling, duty rotas, and academic organization in collaboration with the EP
  • Assist in staff recruitment, performance management, and resource planning
  • Maintain high standards of student behavior and support staff in fostering discipline
  • Lead academic enrichment activities, after-school programs, and community initiatives
  • Continuously improve personal teaching and leadership skills through training and appraisals
  • Stay updated on educational trends and best practices
  • Ensure high academic standards and accountability to stakeholders
  • Support safeguarding policies and promote the welfare of students and staff

Requirements:

  • Holds a relevant degree, PGCE, BEd, or equivalent qualification, ideally in the subject or age group being taught
  • Proven experience teaching the British Curriculum, with a strong understanding of its academic standards and assessment practices
  • Demonstrates confidence and proficiency in integrating IT into teaching and academic leadership practices
  • Possesses strong skills in Microsoft applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and experience with educational apps and digital tools
  • Significant leadership experience, ideally in a Deputy Head Academic role or equivalent, within an international school setting
  • A track record of driving academic excellence and managing curriculum development in a multicultural environment
