Job Description:

The Deputy Finance Manager supports the leadership of CSIRO's accounting and tax team, providing finance services to subsidiaries. The role ensures accurate accounting advice and processes, coaches junior accountants, and delivers timely, accurate financial processes and advice while contributing strategic insights to support business objectives.

Job Responsibility:

Assist Manager to lead and coordinate financial function
Superior people management and coaching team members
Assist Manager to establish and maintain robust financial controls environment
Management reporting, accounting, budgeting and forecasting for CSIRO subsidiaries
Preparation of papers and provision of advice for CSIRO Board and committees
Build and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders
Ensure compliance with government legislation and accounting standards

Requirements:

Degree qualified CA/CPA or equivalent work experience
Excellent leadership skills with track record of developing and motivating high-performing staff
Demonstrated experience and strong technical knowledge of accounting standards, financial management frameworks and/or taxation
Proven experience in preparing financial statements and providing value-added financial advice
Superior communication, interpersonal and influencing skills
Demonstrated ability to apply financial policies, plan, prioritise and manage accounting and tax activities

Nice to have:

Experience in Australian taxation and working with the Australian Taxation Office (FBT, GST and other matters)
Experience in dealing with international taxation matters
