Job Description

The city of Cambridge is seeking a Deputy Finance Director. The Deputy Finance Director is a senior departmental leader responsible for overseeing the day-to-day financial operations of the Finance Department. This position directly supervises five divisional managers and provides indirect oversight of approximately ten additional staff members across the Revenue, Cash Management, and Payroll divisions. The Deputy Finance Director serves as a key resource across all finance divisions, leading efforts to ensure that financial workflows, policies, and procedures are effective and efficient. The role is responsible for overseeing critical reporting requirements, including the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report, Annual Tax Recap, Free Cash Certification, Rating Agency Presentations, and the Annual Official Statement. In addition, the position coordinates enterprise financial system operations and upgrades.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in public administration, finance, accounting, management, or a related field required.
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • At least seven years of progressively responsible management experience in a municipal finance-related field
  • ten or more years preferred.
