Job Description:

Under the direction of the Chief Administrative Officer/Corporate Officer, the Deputy Corporate Officer plays a key leadership role in delivering corporate and legislative services to Council, staff, and the public. This key position coordinates Council and Committee administration, governance processes, front counter services, records and information management while working with a small team in a collaborative, service-focused environment.

Requirements:

  • Completion of Grade 12
  • formal education in Local Government Administration and Records Management (e.g., Certificate in Local Government Administration and/or MATI Program)
  • minimum three (3) years of progressively responsible administrative experience in local government or related public-sector environments
  • minimum two (2) years of supervisory experience with demonstrated ability to lead and develop staff
  • strong working knowledge of the Community Charter, Local Government Act, and related legislation or an ability to read and interpret legislation
  • proven experience supporting Council, Committees, Boards, and Commissions, exercising discretion and confidentiality in governance matters
  • valid Class 5 BC drivers licence
