Job Responsibility

  • Support preparation, posting, and distribution of City Council agendas and meeting materials
  • Attend City Council meetings as needed
  • record, transcribe, and prepare official minutes
  • Ensure compliance with Brown Act and Public Records Act requirements
  • Maintain official city records including resolutions, ordinances, contracts, and supporting documentation
  • Coordinate public notices, legal postings, and advertisements
  • Process and respond to Public Records Act (PRA) requests
  • Support elections, commissions, and advisory boards as needed
  • Serve as a liaison between departments, elected officials, and the public
  • Maintain records management systems and ensure accurate document retention
  • Provide general administrative and front counter support as needed

Requirements

  • Prior experience in a City Clerk or Deputy City Clerk role strongly preferred
  • Solid understanding of Brown Act compliance and municipal administrative procedures
  • Experience preparing agendas, minutes, and official records
  • Strong organization, communication, and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • experience with agenda management systems is a plus
