Job Description:

The city of Worcester is seeking qualified applicants for a Deputy Assessor position in the Assessing division with the Department of Administration and Finance. The Deputy Assessor is responsible for assisting the City Assessor in the valuation of all Commercial, Industrial, Mixed-Use, and Multifamily properties. Under the direction of the City Assessor, the Deputy Assessor is responsible for managing property inspections, analyzing market data, administering income and expense filings (38D), and maintaining accurate valuation schedules. The position prepares documentation for abatements and Appellate Tax Board cases, supervises staff, and ensures compliance with Massachusetts General Laws and Department of Revenue regulations. This position requires advanced expertise in complex property valuation and proficiency with the Vision CAMA system. The Deputy Assessor oversees the Assessing Division in the absence of the City Assessor.
