Job Description

As our Depot Supervisor, you will have responsibility for the day-to-day supervision and safe operation of the Cement depot, which receives and distributes our products, via both rail and road networks to various locations across GB.

Job Responsibility

  • Driving a positive health, safety & wellbeing culture for all our colleagues & visitors to site
  • Compliance with all health, safety, environmental and sustainability legislation, permit requirements and targets
  • Overseeing the operation, receipt and despatch of Cement products for the depot
  • Supervision, development and support for all depot colleagues
  • Supervision of all drivers whilst on site
  • Day to day maintenance of site equipment
  • Supervision of all maintenance contractors
  • Proactive communication of safety observations, near misses, and incidents within the work area to your line manager and health safety and wellbeing department
  • Assist with setting and maintaining the site operational and Capex budgets

Requirements

  • Supervisory experience with the ability to demonstrate previous experience of people management
  • Ideally have an engineering background, with a general mechanical / electrical understanding of fixed plant machinery, along with the ability to identify faults and report accordingly
  • You will have a pro-active “hands on” approach and the ability to anticipate problems and consider a solution and the ability to negotiate and work collaboratively with colleagues on both a formal and informal level
  • Flexibility to be able to work outside of core working hours as and when required
  • IOSH managing safely / NEBOSH qualification or be willing to work to obtain
  • A valid UK driving license

  • Ensure critical civil and mechanical/electrical maintenance materials are available to meet operational and contractual service requirements and work with client to manage critical spares where required
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and system data, including cycle counts, stocktakes, and reporting on discrepancies from the warehouse and the vehicles
  • Coordinate with operations, maintenance teams, and procurement to forecast demand and manage stock levels effectively
  • Supervise and support depot and stores personnel, driving performance, accountability, and adherence to procedures
  • Manage general depot operations, including warehouse layout, organisation, housekeeping, asset storage, quarry levels and spoil management
  • Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety, environmental, and quality standards, including safe handling of hazardous materials
  • Monitor and manage supplier deliveries, returns, and warranty claims in line with contractual expectations
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives to optimise inventory management, reduce waste, and improve efficiency
