Job Description:

Plainville Police Department, seeks a detail-oriented and organized individual to join the department as the Departmental Assistant to the Chief of Police. The Departmental Assistant coordinates and manages the activities of the Police department and ensures that all directives and policies of the Police Chief are carried out. The position provides a wide range of administrative functions to support the efficient operation of the Department and assists department heads with administrative tasks and information management. This is a full-time, confidential position acting under the supervision of the Chief. The schedule is 35 hours per week, Monday – Thursday, with additional time as required.

Job Responsibility:

  • Coordinates and manages the activities of the Police department
  • Ensures that all directives and policies of the Police Chief are carried out
  • Provides a wide range of administrative functions to support the efficient operation of the Department
  • Assists department heads with administrative tasks and information management

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, ideally in a relevant field such as public administration or accounting/finance
  • Four to six years of responsible experience in a comparable role
  • Expert knowledge of office administration and municipal operations strongly preferred
  • Experience in municipal government is desirable
