Job Description

The town of Cohasset seeks an experienced, collaborative Department of Public Works Director to lead the town’s public works operations. This full-time (35 hours), non-union position reports to the Town Manager and oversees public infrastructure, capital projects, departmental operations, and staff. The Director manages all DPW divisions, develops work programs, coordinates daily operations, supports division supervisors, prepares and manages the budget, oversees expenditures, maintains records, and prepares reports for regulatory agencies, the Town Manager, Select Board, and Annual Town Report. The Director attends Sewer and Water Commission meetings and provides updates to boards and committees as needed. Responsibilities include managing engineering studies, capital programs, construction projects, field investigations, plans, specifications, cost estimates, procurement activities, grants, contracts, subdivision reviews, permit applications, and inspections of Town and contractor projects. The Director ensures compliance with applicable local, state, and federal laws and provides technical guidance.
