The London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) is one of the world’s leading public health universities. Our mission is to improve health and health equity in the UK and worldwide; working in partnership to achieve excellence in public and global health research, education and translation of knowledge into policy and practice. The Department of Infectious Disease Epidemiology & Dynamics (IDE-D) is looking to appoint a Department Manager who will be responsible for the smooth operational running of the department.

Job Responsibility:

  • Responsible for the smooth operational running of the department
  • Management oversight of departmental research projects, staffing, finance, and space
  • Work closely with the academic Head of Department in setting and maintaining the strategic direction of the department
  • Responsible for leading the team of professional services staff in the department
  • Recruiting, training and developing staff and allocating workload to ensure consistent provision and quality of support to research projects and academic colleagues

Requirements:

  • Higher education to degree level or equivalent, or substantial relevant experience
  • Substantial relevant experience in a Higher Education institution or similar environment
  • Evidence of providing effective leadership in a team or project
  • Demonstrable experience of managing research projects in an academic environment
