An exciting opportunity has arisen to work with the Community Dental Service for Wiltshire and Swindon at our Swindon Site. This is a substantive, full time post. The post holder will be required to undertake a full range of reception duties including dealing with patients, making appointments, providing information, payment processing and banking and other elements of general office administration.
Job Responsibility:
Process and administer face to face, written, answerphone and telephone enquiries
Provide information and advice about dental services and access to NHS dental care for unregistered patients
Obtain personal details from the patients and other sensitive personal, social and medical information
Ascertain whether patients should pay NHS charges or, if in receipt of benefits, which of these are relevant to exemption from charges
Administer dental charges including exemption categories and checking of eligibility
Calculate fees, collect, handle and patient payments
Take responsibility for security of monies
Receive and prepare documentation for patients and ensure completion of NHS Dental Forms
Maintain and operate the appointments system including call forward of patients, filing of clinical records, and multiple appointment diaries
Collate performance data from the appointments system
Communicate with Dental Laboratories about prosthetic devices and co-ordinate arrangements with clinical diaries
Liaise with other health care professionals regarding patient care
Co-ordinate arrangements between Dental Practitioners and patients including organising domiciliary visits as well as clinics, co-ordinating travel with clinical diaries
Requirements:
NVQ Level 3 or equivalent training and experience
Significant experience of general office work
Experience of operating a cash handling system
Experience of Health and Safety practice relative to this post
Understanding of personal health and safety responsibilities
Good communication and organisational skills
Good IT skills
Own transport is essential
Nice to have:
RSA Intermediate or equivalent
Knowledge of the NHS Dental Rules and Regulations
Previous experience of dental reception work
Previous experience of working with Dental IT system
