Job Description:

This is an exciting new part time Paediatric Consultant post to join our team to provide a wide range of primary dental care for a diverse range of patients who are referred to the Service and subject to the Terms and Conditions of service governing the appointment of Hospital Medical and Dental Staff in England and Wales, or as subsequently varied by agreement. The Consultant will be a highly regarded member of the services senior management team working with the Dental Service Manager, Clinical Lead, Consultant in Special Care Dentistry, Clinical Team Lead and Dental Nurse Manager. Active involvement with the Paediatric Managed Clinical Network will be essential.

Job Responsibility:

  • The development of paediatric specialist clinical capacity and effective support, guidance, training and workforce development opportunities for our clinical teams now and in the future
  • To support and further develop clinicians so that they can demonstrate enhanced (Tier 2) skills in paediatric dentistry, enabling the service to develop in line with recommendations of relevant Commissioning Guidance for Paediatric Dentistry while offering high quality care for children
  • To be involved in and guide the management of medically compromised children and adolescents in the community and to develop and improve essential local, regional and national links
  • In conjunction with other Specialists within and out with the service deliver, develop and enhance the provision of treatment under conscious sedation and general anaesthesia
  • To further develop emergency and urgent dental trauma management and treatment within Northamptonshire
  • To contribute to planning and management of paediatric dental services for Northamptonshire helping to deliver and secure commissioned service delivery
  • Lead on CPD provision within service for paediatric general anaesthesia and conscious sedation

Requirements:

  • Demonstrates clarity in all communication with capacity to adapt language as appropriate to the situation
  • Capacity to use logical/lateral thinking to solve problems/make decisions
  • Effectively supervise junior staff and other staff groups
  • Leading, motivating and inspiring the team on a daily basis, bringing all team members together in providing high standards in the provision of care
  • Experience in the multidisciplinary management of Paediatric patients
  • Experience in Community Dental Services settings
  • Experience in the day to day clinical management of a Paediatric Dental Service

  • Managing/coordinating yard activity, liaising with the transport and operational teams, and occasionally jumping onto a forklift to help your team deliver service excellence
  • Managing the workload of a dedicated yard FLT driver, yard cleaner, whilst also liaising with the operational team to divert resources at peak times
  • Ensuring stock is kept safe, tidy and weather protected in designated yard locations, in accordance with permits and Environment Agency regulations
  • Ensuring adherence to all company policies and processes
  • Drive continuous improvement, emphasising safety, quality, efficiency, productivity, cost reduction and morale
  • Actively participate in Daily Shift briefings, using and completing reports, monitoring safety, whilst ensuring all KPI’s are met
  • Demonstrate best in practice loading and securing techniques are always used, with load information (including photographic evidence) is recorded on AO’s systems, limiting risk of movement in transit
  • Complete in full all required paperwork for inbound and outbound shipments, both nationwide and internationally
