Job Description:

Promotes dental health by completing dental prophylaxis; providing oral cancer screening and radiographic studies; charting conditions of decay and disease; and performing procedures in compliance with the Dental Practice Act. The position will participate in QI activities as needed.

Job Responsibility:

Promote the mission, vision, and values of the organization
Prepare treatment room for patients
Prepare patients for dental hygiene treatment
Provide information to patients and employees
Maintain instrumentation for dental hygiene treatment
Select materials and equipment for dental hygiene visits
Complete dental prophylaxis
Detect disease by completing oral cancer screening and radiographic studies
Apply fluoride and other preventive agents
Help dentist manage dental and medical emergencies
Educate patients on oral hygiene and plaque control
Document dental hygiene services
Maintain patient confidentiality
Maintain a safe and clean working environment
Protect patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies
Ensure operation of dental equipment
Maintain dental supplies inventory
Conserve dental resources
Maintain professional and technical knowledge
Contribute to team effort
Place periodontal dressings
Perform vitality tests
Carve amalgams

Requirements:

Associate of Science in Dental Hygiene or Certificate in Dental Hygiene
Registered Dental Hygienist required
Knowledge of basic dental office equipment and instrumentation
Knowledge of current sterilization and infection control procedures
Current CPR certification
Ability to communicate effectively with patients
Ability to work in a team environment
