Job Description

Under the general direction of a Licensed Team Member, performs a variety of clinical and clerical tasks in support of clinical care activities in a dental outpatient environment.

Job Responsibility

  • Maintains inventory of equipment, instruments and supplies
  • Assists with replacements/repairs
  • Maximizes room utilization through inventory, stocking, cleaning of operatories, and daily preparation of dental units
  • Maintains cleanliness of waiting room
  • Anticipates and prepares equipment, material, and supply needs in consideration of patient/procedure complexity in support of timely and efficient clinic operations and provider schedules
  • Contacts patients to schedule/reschedule patient appointments
  • Maintains accurate demographic information in the scheduling system
  • Notifies of patient arrival and escorts patients through the clinic
  • Provides special assistance for non-ambulatory patients
  • Follows standard clinical safety protocol for Patient Identification Verification
  • Enters patient data into the electronic medical record
  • Reviews discharge instructions with patient as prepared by provider
  • Implements standard infection prevention measures, such as hand hygiene and surface decontamination, in accordance with EIOH infection prevention policy
  • Performs basic dental laboratory procedures such as model pouring for dentures and partials
  • Collects data for quality improvement/departmental studies
  • Supports and assists in research as directed
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • High School diploma or High School Student in good academic standing required
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Knowledge of dental terminology, procedures, and computer experience preferred
