Compass Associates are pleased to be partnering with a well-established elderly care provider to recruit a Dementia Lead for one of their residential and nursing care services in Cheshire. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced dementia professional to take ownership of dementia care provision within a well-established service, supporting residents living with dementia to achieve the highest possible quality of life through person-centred care and meaningful engagement. Working closely with the Home Manager and wider leadership team, you will lead on dementia best practice across the home, ensuring residents receive exceptional support tailored to their individual needs, preferences and life histories. The successful candidate will act as a dementia champion throughout the service, supporting colleagues with education, guidance and coaching while helping to embed innovative approaches to dementia care, meaningful activities and positive dining experiences.
Job Responsibility
Lead and promote best practice in dementia care throughout the home
Act as the subject matter expert for dementia care, supporting residents, families and colleagues
Work closely with the Activities Coordinator to develop and enhance meaningful engagement programmes for residents living with dementia
Support the development of dementia-friendly environments and experiences throughout the home
Lead initiatives to improve the dining experience for residents within the dementia community
Provide guidance, coaching and support to care teams on dementia-specific approaches and interventions
Assist with staff supervisions, competency assessments and ongoing development
Support the implementation and monitoring of person-centred care plans
Promote positive behavioural support and non-pharmacological approaches to dementia care
Work collaboratively with the Home Manager and senior leadership team to drive continuous quality improvement
Contribute to audits, quality initiatives and service development projects
Champion resident wellbeing, independence and quality of life
Requirements
A recognised dementia qualification or extensive experience working with individuals living with dementia
Previous experience within elderly care, residential care, nursing homes, community services, hospitals or dementia-focused healthcare settings
Strong understanding of person-centred dementia care principles and best practice
Passion for improving outcomes for residents living with dementia
