Lead E2E data project delivery across the insurance data platform, managing full lifecycles from initiation and planning through execution, UAT, and go-live
Own project governance and reporting, maintaining project plans, risk registers, RAID logs, and status dashboards for senior stakeholders and business sponsors
Coordinate cross-functional teams including data engineers, architects, analysts, and business SMEs to ensure aligned delivery of pipelines and platform solutions
Manage ADF and Databricks workstreams, overseeing sprint planning, backlog refinement, and delivery milestones for data ingestion and transformation pipelines
Drive Microsoft Fabric adoption, coordinating migration strategies, capacity planning, and onboarding of engineering teams to the unified analytics stack
Manage vendor and third-party relationships, including contract oversight, SLA monitoring, and performance management for technology and consulting partners
Facilitate requirements gathering, translating complex insurance business needs into clear technical data project scopes and delivery roadmaps
Manage project budgets and resource plans, tracking costs against approved forecasts and proactively flagging variances to programme leadership
Ensure data quality and compliance standards are embedded in delivery, supporting GDPR, Solvency II, and internal data governance frameworks throughout execution
Conduct post-delivery reviews and retrospectives, capturing lessons learned and driving continuous improvement of delivery methodology across the platform
Requirements
SQL proficiency — ability to read, review, and validate SQL queries, enabling effective collaboration with data engineering teams and QA of data deliverables
Azure Data Factory expertise — hands-on understanding of ADF pipeline architecture, triggers, linked services, and integration runtimes to govern data ingestion workstreams
Databricks knowledge — functional understanding of notebooks, clusters, Delta Lake, and Unity Catalog to oversee data transformation and analytics delivery
Microsoft Fabric experience — familiarity with Fabric workspaces, Lakehouses, Data Pipelines, and OneLake to lead platform modernisation programmes
Project management credentials — certified or experienced in Agile (Scrum/SAFe), PRINCE2, or PMP with a proven track record delivering complex data projects on time and budget
Insurance domain knowledge — understanding of insurance operations, products (P&C, Life, Re-insurance), and regulatory requirements (Solvency II, IFRS 17) as they relate to data
Stakeholder management — ability to communicate with C-suite sponsors, business owners, and technical teams, translating data concepts into business language
Risk and issue management — skilled at proactively identifying delivery risks, designing mitigation strategies, and escalating blockers to protect project timelines
Data governance awareness — working knowledge of data cataloguing, lineage, data quality frameworks, and tools such as Microsoft Purview
Tooling proficiency — experienced with Jira, Azure DevOps, Confluence, and MS Project for backlog management, sprint tracking, documentation, and programme reporting
