We are looking for an experienced Delivery Leader to oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of a portfolio of complex IT projects. The role involves managing internal delivery teams and supply chain partners to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This position requires strong leadership, commercial acumen, and stakeholder management skills, with accountability for delivering tangible business outcomes and benefits.
Job Responsibility:
Lead and coordinate internal teams and external partners to deliver IT solutions aligned with business priorities
Review and approve delivery plans, ensuring all activities required to achieve business outcomes are included
Oversee smooth transition of projects into business-as-usual operations
Foster a safe, supportive, and collaborative working environment
Engage with senior stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into effective delivery
Define and manage project scope, ensuring changes follow the correct governance processes
Contribute to the development of business cases, clearly identifying benefits and success factors
Establish appropriate governance structures and present at investment and decision-making forums
Support portfolio planning to align projects with business strategy
Identify and manage interdependencies, risks, and opportunities across projects
Remove blockers and ensure risk mitigation plans are in place
Select, engage, and contract suppliers in line with procurement standards
Oversee commercial negotiations, contract compliance, and supplier performance
Ensure timely and accurate reporting of project progress, risks, issues, and financials
Provide clear management information to support decision-making and assurance processes
Requirements:
Proven experience leading a portfolio of multi-million-pound projects using both agile and waterfall methodologies
Strong track record of delivery in complex, fast-paced environments
Experience working in predominantly outsourced delivery models, either as a client or supplier
Accountability for project delivery, financial management, and commercial negotiations
Expertise in project management disciplines (risk, change, quality, testing, etc.)
Demonstrated ability to engage and influence senior stakeholders in challenging environments
Strong judgement and decision-making skills in ambiguous situations
Highly motivated, accountable, and able to align teams to programme goals
Adaptable, resilient, and capable of driving change in uncertain or challenging circumstances
Nice to have:
Experience in government or regulated industries
Exposure to big data, cloud, and automation initiatives
Experience working in a matrix environment
Familiarity with ERP, HCM, SCM, Treasury, Payments, or PPM systems
Knowledge of tools such as Azure DevOps, Jira, Trello, or Asana
