Beacon Hill Legal is hiring a Defense Litigation Paralegal on behalf of a well-established, downtown St. Louis law firm. This role supports attorneys in all phases of civil defense litigation and offers the opportunity to work on complex matters in a collaborative, professional environment. The ideal candidate will have an undergraduate degree or equivalent work experience. A minimum of five years of litigation paralegal experience is preferred, along with a paralegal certificate.
Job Responsibility
Support defense attorneys throughout all phases of litigation, from case inception through trial and post-trial
Draft, review, and manage pleadings, discovery requests and responses, subpoenas, and correspondence
Coordinate and manage large volumes of documents, including document collection, review, production, and organization
Assist with eDiscovery processes, including data management, document review workflows, and quality control
Utilize eDiscovery and document review platforms to support case strategy and deadlines
Maintain case calendars and proactively track deadlines, hearings, depositions, and court filings
Prepare deposition and trial binders, exhibits, witness files, and demonstratives
Assist attorneys during depositions and trials, including use of trial presentation software when applicable
Communicate professionally with attorneys, clients, court personnel, and third parties
Contribute to team projects and provide support on long-term initiatives or urgent deadlines as needed
Requirements
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities
Proven critical thinking and problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a litigation team
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Technically proficient, with the ability to leverage technology to support attorneys and clients
Working knowledge of eDiscovery rules, processes, and procedures
Experience using eDiscovery document review platforms (required)
Trial preparation or in-court experience is a plus
