Job Description

Full-Time Decontamination Assistant - Durban Dental Centre. You’re interested in starting a career in the dental industry but don’t have previous experience, this role is a great place to begin. Durban Dental Centre is looking for a full-time Decontamination Assistant to join our friendly team. We are offering a hands-on role in a calm, well-run practice where you’ll be supported, trained, and truly valued while playing an important part in maintaining high clinical standards.

Job Responsibility

  • Instrument cleaning, sterilisation, and maintaining decontamination rooms to a high standard, following infection control protocols
  • Work closely with the wider clinical team to ensure surgeries are fully stocked and ready for patient care

Requirements

  • Previous experience in a dental or healthcare decontamination role is helpful, but not essential as training can be provided
  • A strong understanding of infection control and attention to detail
  • Reliable, organised, and comfortable with routine-based work
  • A team player who enjoys supporting others behind the scenes
  • Hepatitis B immunisation or confirmed immunity is a big advantage

Nice to have

  • Previous experience in a dental or healthcare decontamination role
  • Hepatitis B immunisation or confirmed immunity

  • Give constructive feedback to the management team on an individual's performance
  • Occasionally deputise and bleep hold for the Supervisors when required
  • Understand all potential product risks, SOPs relating to non-conforming products, machine failures and the ability to re-allocate staff to ensure the department functions safely and efficiently.
