Debt Recovery Officer

• Manage a portfolio of overdue accounts, ensuring timely and effective debt recovery
• Contact debtors via phone, email, and written correspondence to discuss outstanding balances and negotiate manageable repayment plans
• Identify and locate debtors who have moved or are difficult to reach
• Maintain accurate and detailed records of all communications, payment arrangements, and account activities in our collections system
• Analyse financial information to develop tailored repayment strategies
• Address debtor inquiries and concerns professionally and empathetically, providing high level customer service
• Collaborate with internal teams to resolve complex issues and facilitate smooth collection processes
• Prepare and submit reports on collections performance and accounts receivable status

• Proven experience in debt collection, customer service
• Strong negotiation and persuasion skills with a focus on respectful and ethical communication
• High level verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex information clearly
• Proficiency in using debt collection software, including Connect and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel)
• Immediately available
• Previous experience within government will be highly regarded
